Your final grade for the course will be determined as follows. Exam dates, project due dates, requirements, and grading criteria for each facet will be discussed in due course.
Breakdown
20% – Projects: Four projects will be assigned throughout the semester (not including the final project). Project 4, worth 5% of your final grade, will be given as a bonus due to time constraints.
15% – Exams: Three exams will be given throughout the semester, covering material from lectures, discussions, exercises, and reading material.
30% – Final Project: The final project will involve the production of a complete redesign of an existing website. Your work will be held to the highest standards of design and code.
15% – Final Project Documentation: To accompany the final project, you will provide a detailed document outlining and justifying the design and development decisions made during the creation of the final project.
10% – Blog Posts: Throughout the semester, you will write several blog posts. Content to be determined.
10% – Class Participation: Your class participation grade will be based on attentiveness and courtesy toward myself and your fellow students.
Extra Credit
There are many opportunities for extra credit. If at any point during our broad exploration of web design-related issues you decide to investigate a topic more thoroughly, a five-minute presentation or 500-word writeup (to share with the class) will earn you 1% toward your final grade (up to a maximum of 3%).
Late Assignments
Late assignments and exercises will be reduced one-third grade per day late.
