Project 2

Due: Thursday, Mar 13

Develop a multi-page website about yourself, such as: a blog, a portfolio, or a personal freelance business. The site should not be client work or be in any way subject to pressures outside of our class. Every decision should be yours to make.

Like the page from our first project, each of these pages should be simple and unstyled. However, you will also develop a design concept to accompany your markup, in the form of comps.

There are several steps of reasoning that I recommend for the process of going from idea to markup + comps. We’ll discuss this reasoning in class. In addition, at the time of this posting, we haven’t yet discussed resolution or web typography. We will.

So, in sum, there are three parts to hand in: the multi-page site markup, the comps, and notes on your reasoning.

Grading

  • 10 points Site is based on our HTML Shell, contains no CSS, uses proper semantic markup, validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict, and includes at least a home page and 404 error page
  • 10 points Site structure shows evidence of applied reasoning
  • 10 points Comps show evidence of applied reasoning
  • 10 points Comps are of proper resolution and reflect a basic understanding of web typography
  • 10 points Notes on reasoning are provided
  • 50 points Total
